We first started working together on the app Tell Me Much More, a conversation app for people to deepen their conversations and connections.
That app still exists, but we wanted to build something even more impactful. We started thinking about we could use prompts to help us reflect and delve deeper. Capu had had a journaling tool idea budding at the back of her mind since 2018.
After user research interviewing 100+ people, we saw that there was a need.
Journal Me came to life.
Over 3 months we built our MVP, Capu product managing, and Vitalii developing .
In September 2024, we launched our first phase of user testing, with people using the Journal Me tool for the very first time.
I’m Capu, a tech enthusiast, personal development nerd, and writer at heart.
I love travel, languages, words, horse-riding, running, reading, and building community!
I started my career in China, in one of the most challenging jobs fully in Mandarin. I learnt everything from negotiation, building engineering, client management, product management, and marketing.
Alongside my job, I co-founded a dog harness e-commerce business called Hotdogs Harnesses, and wrote for tech publication about all things tech in China.
Returning to this side of the world (Europe), I started my own freelance business in Business Development and Marketing, whilst working as Lead Product Manager in a sustainable fashion startup & my own company, Understand Your Cycle.
Needless to say, I’ve bounced about quite a bit. And throughout it all, I have journaled my heart out and learnt so so much.
But I never found a tool that was quite right for me. That’s why we decided to build it ourselves!
I’m Vitalii, a startup enthusiast, global explorer, and lifelong learner.
I’m passionate about technology, community building, and creating tools that make a difference.
My journey started in China, where I worked at an early-stage EV startup and a social enterprise, all while being part of Stratup Grind, a local tech community, and exploring my entrepreneurial side with my own startups.
From there, I hit the road, working with startups across China, the US, Latin America, and Europe, as a software engineer and the head of engineering.
These days, I run Tech Wave Hires, helping startups grow their remote teams, and pour my energy into building Journal Me — a tool designed to inspire reflection and growth through journaling.
It’s been quite a ride, and I can’t wait to see where the journey leads next!
